As you have seen, Cheetah is the official emblem of our lab. There are several reasons for such a choice:

  • We investigate the superfast switching/transformation processes
    • Cheetah is the fastest mammal

  • We use the idea of geometrical catastrophe for interpretation mathematical treatment of experimental data for anisotropic growth during switching / transformation in finite media
    • Cheetah demonstrates the geometrical catastrophe in the middle of its tail: change from spots (near the body) to strips (near the tail's end)

  • We often use the term catastrophe - cat for short
    • Cheetah is our favorite big cat

  • Finally we become Cheetah Fans who collect Cheetah Links:
